Scientists probe link between exercise byproduct and metabolism
NCT ID NCT07426172
Summary
This study aims to understand if high lactate levels, common in people with metabolic syndrome, cause problems with how the body uses fat and sugar. Researchers will temporarily raise lactate levels in healthy volunteers using an IV infusion and compare their metabolism to people with metabolic syndrome. The goal is to gather basic knowledge about how this molecule affects the body's energy use at rest and during exercise.
