Scientists test if a common blood chemical is the hidden cause of metabolic problems
NCT ID NCT07426172
Summary
This study aims to understand if high levels of lactate in the blood are responsible for the reduced fat breakdown and poor blood sugar control seen in people with metabolic syndrome. Researchers will temporarily raise lactate levels in healthy volunteers using an IV infusion and compare their metabolism to people who already have metabolic syndrome. The goal is to gather knowledge about how lactate affects the body's use of fat and sugar at rest and during exercise.
