New tool may improve knee replacement fit and stability

NCT ID NCT06770153

First seen Feb 01, 2026 · Last updated May 26, 2026 · Updated 11 times

Summary

This study tests whether a special tensioner tool helps surgeons better balance the ligaments during total knee replacement compared to the usual technique. About 200 adults getting a specific knee implant will be split into two groups, one using the tensioner and one using standard methods. Researchers will measure knee looseness with stress X-rays and track pain and alignment to see which approach leads to better results.
