ICU kidney test study aims to prevent medication errors

NCT ID NCT04776486

Summary

This study compared different methods for measuring kidney function in 90 critically ill patients whose kidneys were clearing waste unusually fast. Researchers wanted to see if a special dye test (iohexol clearance) gave more accurate results than standard blood tests and formulas. Better kidney function measurements could help doctors give more precise medication doses to seriously ill patients.
