First seen Feb 04, 2026 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study tested whether a ketogenic (high-fat, low-carb) diet could improve brain function and recovery in people with moderate to severe traumatic brain injury. Twenty-one participants were enrolled within 2-30 days of their injury. The diet aims to change how the brain uses energy, potentially helping it heal. The study measured functional recovery and brain metabolism over six months.
