Could a ketamine rinse during surgery slash post-op painkiller use?

NCT ID NCT07370181

First seen Jan 28, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study tests whether rinsing the surgical area with a mix of ketamine and standard pain reliever (bupivacaine) reduces pain after gallbladder removal. Sixty adults having laparoscopic cholecystectomy will be randomly assigned to receive either the standard rinse or the ketamine-enhanced rinse. The main goal is to see if the ketamine group needs fewer rescue painkillers in the first 24 hours after surgery.
