New pill aims to improve vision in diabetes-related eye swelling

Summary
This early-phase trial tests whether an oral drug called Kamuvudine-9 (K9) is safe and can improve vision in people with diabetic macular edema (DME), a diabetes complication that causes vision loss. About 10 adults with diabetes and DME will receive either K9 or a placebo pill. The study checks for side effects and measures changes in eyesight and retinal swelling over time.
