First seen Feb 22, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 10 times
Summary
This study looks at whether giving children with iron deficiency anemia an IV iron treatment called ferric carboxymaltose in the emergency department is safe, works well, and saves money. About 150 children aged 1 to 18 with moderate anemia will receive the IV iron, and researchers will track how quickly their anemia resolves, whether they need blood transfusions or hospital stays, and any side effects. The goal is to see if this approach can speed up recovery and reduce the need for hospitalization.
