First seen Jan 16, 2026 · Last updated Jun 17, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study tested whether giving intravenous iron to pregnant women who have low iron stores but not yet anemia can prevent them from becoming anemic later and help their babies grow properly. 600 women took part and received either the iron infusion or standard care. The goal was to see if this approach reduces maternal anemia and improves birth weight.
