New study tests Non-Antibiotic wash to stop catheter infections

NCT ID NCT07239219

First seen Nov 20, 2025 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study tests whether a special antiseptic rinse called Irrisept can prevent urinary tract infections (UTIs) when a urinary catheter is removed. About 300 adults will get either Irrisept or a standard saltwater rinse before the catheter comes out. The goal is to see if Irrisept lowers infection rates without using antibiotics, which could lead to safer and cheaper care.
