NCT ID NCT01481766

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 29 times

Summary

This study looked at whether giving iron supplements to children aged 1 to 3 years with low iron (but not anemia) helps their learning and development. 127 children received either iron liquid or a placebo for 4 months, plus diet advice. Researchers measured thinking and motor skills before and after treatment to see if early detection and treatment of low iron is worthwhile.
