First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study looked at whether giving iron supplements to children aged 1 to 3 years with low iron (but not full anemia) helps their brain development. 127 children received either iron liquid or a placebo for 4 months, plus diet advice. Researchers measured learning skills before and after treatment to see if screening and treating low iron early is worthwhile.
