Can an iodine pill during pregnancy boost your child's brain power?
NCT ID NCT01049659
Summary
This study tested whether giving iodine supplements to healthy pregnant women in an area with mild iodine deficiency improves their children's brain development. Researchers followed 85 children whose mothers were randomly assigned to take either standard prenatal vitamins or vitamins with added iodine. The children's thinking and motor skills were tested at age 2 to see if early iodine supplementation made a difference.
