First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 19 times
Summary
This study tests whether giving a numbing medicine called ropivacaine through chest tubes after heart surgery helps patients recover better and feel less pain. About 116 adults having planned heart surgery will be randomly assigned to receive either ropivacaine or a placebo through their chest drains. The main goal is to see if this approach improves overall recovery quality and reduces the need for other painkillers.
