New stroke treatment targets medium blockages with targeted drug delivery

NCT ID NCT07302854

First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This study tests whether giving a clot-dissolving drug directly into the brain's arteries can improve recovery for people with acute stroke caused by medium-sized vessel blockages. About 382 adults who have had a stroke within the last 24 hours will be randomly assigned to receive either standard care or the drug (tenecteplase) injected near the clot. The goal is to see if this approach leads to better functional outcomes and fewer complications than current treatments.
