Healthy volunteers to unlock sleep apnea mystery in hypoxia chamber

NCT ID NCT07409649

First seen Feb 13, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study looks at how brief periods of low oxygen (intermittent hypoxia) change the body's breathing control system in 40 healthy adults aged 18-45. Participants will spend time in a special chamber, and researchers will measure breathing stability before and after. The goal is to understand if low oxygen exposure can make breathing control less stable, which may help explain why some people develop sleep apnea.
