New therapy aims to ease pain and reduce opioid harm in veterans

Summary

This study tests whether a combined therapy (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy plus Mindfulness-Based Relapse Prevention) can reduce how much pain interferes with daily life in veterans who have both chronic pain and opioid use disorder. About 157 veterans taking buprenorphine for opioid use will participate. The therapy is delivered via video telehealth and compared to standard education sessions.
