Sleep therapy may tackle diabetes risk: new study tests CBT-I on insulin resistance

NCT ID NCT07333586

First seen Jan 12, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 13 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a type of talk therapy for insomnia (CBT-I) can also improve markers of metabolic syndrome, like insulin resistance and blood pressure. Twenty adults with insomnia and higher body weight will be randomly assigned to CBT-I or basic sleep tips for 5 weeks. Researchers will measure sleep, activity, and take blood samples before and after treatment to see if better sleep leads to better metabolic health.
