Doctor alerts could boost iron treatment in heart failure patients

NCT ID NCT07467668

First seen Mar 22, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 15 times

Summary

This study looks at whether reminding doctors about iron deficiency in hospitalized heart failure patients leads to more use of IV iron. About 3,000 adults with heart failure and low iron levels will take part. Doctors in one group get a reminder with test results and treatment guidelines, while the other group follows usual care. The goal is to see if the reminders change how often IV iron is given and if that improves patient health.
