Inflammation markers studied in kids with heart defects and lung hypertension
NCT ID NCT03581695
First seen May 05, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looked at whether a specific inflammatory protein, HMGB1, is higher in children with congenital heart disease and pulmonary hypertension compared to those with heart disease alone or healthy children. Researchers measured blood samples from 74 children during heart catheterization. The goal was to better understand the role of inflammation in this condition, not to test a new treatment.
