First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 23 times
Summary
This study tests whether a personalized, gradual start to dialysis (based on how much kidney function remains) is safer and better for quality of life than the standard one-size-fits-all approach. About 350 adults with new kidney failure will be randomly assigned to either the personalized or standard dialysis plan and followed for 2 years. The goal is to see if the personalized plan reduces emergency visits, hospital stays, and deaths.
