VA tests virtual simulations to speed up mental health care for veterans

NCT ID NCT04208217

First seen Apr 09, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 4 times

Summary

This study tested whether training VA staff with computer simulations (called participatory system dynamics) improves how quickly and effectively veterans with PTSD, depression, or opioid use disorder receive proven treatments. About 720 staff from 24 VA health systems participated. The goal was to see if this approach increases the number of veterans who start and complete evidence-based care, compared to usual quality improvement methods.
