First seen Mar 19, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a special counseling style called Motivational Interviewing, used during the first visit, helps adults with substance use problems show up for and complete their treatment program. About 150 people seeking outpatient addiction treatment will take part. Researchers will compare this approach to the usual intake process to see if it improves engagement and get staff feedback on how practical it is to use.
