First seen Dec 12, 2025 · Last updated Jun 20, 2026 · Updated 19 times
Summary
This Phase 2 trial tests whether adding an immunotherapy drug called IRX 2 to standard pembrolizumab (Keytruda) and chemotherapy can improve the immune system's ability to attack triple negative breast cancer before surgery. The study involves 12 adults with previously untreated TNBC. The main goal is to see how many patients have no cancer remaining in the breast or lymph nodes after treatment.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Pembrolizumab (Keytruda) and IRX 2
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to a more effective treatment approach for triple negative breast cancer, potentially increasing the chance of eliminating all cancer before surgery.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early Phase 2 trial with only 12 participants, so results may not apply to all patients. The combination may cause serious side effects and may not improve outcomes.
