New combo aims to control Hard-to-Treat gut tumors

Summary
This study tests whether adding the immunotherapy drug atezolizumab to the standard drug imatinib can better control advanced gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST) that have stopped responding to multiple prior treatments. About 110 adults with inoperable or metastatic GIST will be randomly assigned to receive either the combination or imatinib alone. The goal is to see if the combination delays tumor growth longer than imatinib alone.
