Brain scan showdown: does MRI targeting boost TMS for depression?
NCT ID NCT07043738
First seen Nov 17, 2025 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 34 times
Summary
This study tests whether using a brain scan (MRI) to guide transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) works better than the standard scalp-measurement method for treating depression. About 160 adults with major depressive disorder will receive accelerated TMS (10 sessions daily for 5 days) with either MRI or scalp targeting. The goal is to see if the expensive MRI step is necessary for the best results.
