PET scans reveal hidden immune hotspots in long COVID

NCT ID NCT04815096

First seen May 18, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study uses a special PET-CT scan to track immune cells in people who have recovered from COVID-19. Up to 80 adults who had COVID-19 at least 4 weeks ago will get an injection of a harmless radioactive tracer and then be scanned. The goal is to see where the immune system remains active, which may help explain long-term symptoms.
