Can a simple scan spot hidden heart disease?

NCT ID NCT01683825

First seen Nov 20, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study tested whether a special dye used in PET scans can detect abnormal protein clumps (amyloid) in the heart. About 30 people with known cardiac amyloidosis and 15 healthy volunteers received the dye and had heart imaging. The goal was to see if the scan can measure amyloid buildup without needing a biopsy.
