Hospital study questions need for ICU after complex facial surgery
NCT ID NCT07295548
Summary
This study aims to find out if patients recover just as well in a regular hospital ward as they do in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after major reconstructive surgery for head and neck cancer. Researchers will compare complication rates and hospital stay length for 192 patients sent to either the ICU or a specialty ward. The goal is to identify the safest and most cost-effective standard of care for recovery after this complex operation.
