Nurses train to detect silent vein backup in sepsis

NCT ID NCT07406750

First seen Feb 18, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 13 times

Summary

This study looks at whether intensive care nurses can learn to use a special ultrasound method called VExUS to find early signs of vein congestion in people with sepsis. Sepsis can cause blood to back up in veins, harming organs. The study will train nurses, check how well they perform the scans, and see if the results relate to patient outcomes. About 46 patients and their nurses will take part.
