First seen Jan 17, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This study looked at 729 breast cancer patients who had surgery followed by radiation. Researchers checked their thyroid function before and after radiation to see how many developed hypothyroidism (an underactive thyroid). They also studied which radiation doses and techniques raised the risk. The goal was to better understand and possibly prevent this side effect.
