Hypnosis could take the fear out of colon cancer screening

NCT ID NCT05051046

First seen Jan 03, 2026 · Last updated Jun 16, 2026 · Updated 29 times

Summary

This study tests whether using hypnosis during a screening colonoscopy helps people feel less anxious and in less pain, and whether it helps doctors complete the exam more fully. About 600 adults in France will be randomly assigned to receive either standard care or hypnosis during the procedure. The goal is to see if hypnosis is a good option to improve the experience and quality of colorectal cancer screening.
