Oxygen chamber tested to save brains after hanging attempts

NCT ID NCT07461272

Summary

This study is testing whether adding one session of hyperbaric oxygen therapy to standard intensive care can help reduce brain damage in people who survive suicide attempts by hanging. Researchers will compare standard care alone to standard care plus the oxygen therapy in 50 patients who show neurological distress but didn't suffer cardiac arrest. The main goal is to see if the oxygen treatment improves short-term brain function and reduces cognitive impairment.
