New combo scan could slash unnecessary prostate biopsies
NCT ID NCT06305390
First seen Apr 02, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 10 times
Summary
This study tests whether combining two types of scans (PET and MRI) before a prostate biopsy can more accurately find serious prostate cancers while avoiding unnecessary biopsies for low-risk cancers. About 167 men with suspected prostate cancer will receive the combined scan, and results will be compared to standard biopsy. The goal is to reduce false negatives and overdiagnosis.
