First seen Nov 20, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study tested a lab-made blood vessel (Human Acellular Vessel, or HAV) against the standard surgically-created fistula (AVF) for people with kidney failure who need dialysis. The goal was to see which one works better and is safer for connecting to the dialysis machine. The trial involved 242 adults and measured how well each access point functioned at 6 and 12 months.
