Could a pill stop Alzheimer's before it starts? new trial targets High-Risk gene carriers

NCT ID NCT07399171

First seen Feb 12, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 12 times

Summary

This study tests an experimental drug, HT-4253, to see if it can lower the risk of developing Alzheimer's disease in people who carry the APOE4 gene variant, which increases risk. The trial will include 112 participants aged 50-75 who have early signs of amyloid buildup in the brain but no memory loss yet. Half will receive the drug and half a placebo for 48 weeks, and researchers will measure changes in blood markers related to Alzheimer's.
