Vaccine boost after surgery aims to stop cervical abnormalities from coming back
NCT ID NCT03979014
Summary
This study tested whether giving the Gardasil 9 HPV vaccine to women right after they had surgery to remove pre-cancerous cervical cells could help prevent future HPV infections and the return of abnormal cells. Over 1,000 women aged 18-55 who had this surgery were randomly assigned to receive either the vaccine series or standard observation. Researchers followed them for over two years to see if the vaccine reduced the risk of the problem coming back.
