Brain injury study reveals how we imagine the past and future

NCT ID NCT06823193

First seen Mar 15, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 11 times

Summary

This study looks at how people with specific brain injuries imagine past and future events, a skill called mental time travel. Researchers will compare 66 participants with and without focal brain lesions to understand the role of a brain area called the ventromedial prefrontal cortex. The goal is to learn more about how the brain processes time and self-awareness, not to test a treatment.
