Pregnancy hormones may speed up THC processing, study finds
NCT ID NCT04374773
First seen May 10, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study looked at how two hormones that rise during pregnancy—estradiol and cortisol—affect the way the body processes THC (the main psychoactive ingredient in cannabis). Fourteen healthy women of reproductive age took dronabinol (a synthetic THC) with and without these hormones to mimic pregnancy. The goal was to better understand how cannabis use during pregnancy might impact both the mother and the developing baby.
