Scientists probe why insulin fails to control fat in obese people
NCT ID NCT03866408
Summary
This Mayo Clinic study aims to understand why insulin doesn't properly control fat breakdown in people with upper body obesity. Researchers will examine fat cells from 64 volunteers, including both non-obese and obese adults, to identify specific proteins involved. They'll also test whether the diabetes medication pioglitazone can improve insulin's ability to regulate fat metabolism.
