Common blood condition may skew diabetes tests, study investigates

NCT ID NCT07463612

Summary

This study aims to understand whether having different types of anemia causes the HbA1c blood test (commonly used to diagnose and monitor diabetes) to give inaccurate results in people who don't have diabetes. Researchers will compare HbA1c levels in 100 non-diabetic adults with various types of anemia against those without anemia. This observational research seeks to improve test accuracy by identifying how anemia might interfere with this important diagnostic tool.
