Breathing training slashes readmission risk in COPD patients

Summary
This study tests whether a home-based breathing exercise program can reduce hospital readmissions and deaths in people recovering from a severe COPD flare-up. About 358 adults who were hospitalized for at least 3 days will either receive usual care or add twice-daily inspiratory muscle training using a smartphone app. The goal is to see if this simple, low-cost intervention helps patients breathe better and stay out of the hospital.
