New mRNA HIV vaccines enter human safety trial – could they teach the body to fight HIV?

NCT ID NCT07569029

First seen May 08, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This early-stage study tests two new mRNA vaccines designed to help people with HIV produce antibodies against the virus. About 42 adults with well-controlled HIV will receive the vaccines and then temporarily pause their regular HIV medication under close monitoring. The main goal is to see if the vaccines are safe and whether they can trigger or strengthen the body's natural defenses against HIV.
