First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 14, 2026 · Updated 37 times

Summary

This study looked at whether giving HIV-infected infants (ages 1 month to 1 year) immediate treatment for two common infections—cytomegalovirus (CMV) and tuberculosis (TB)—alongside standard pneumonia care could help them survive. Over 560 babies hospitalized with severe pneumonia were enrolled. The main goal was to see if this approach reduced deaths within 15 days and up to one year.
