First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated Jun 23, 2026 · Updated 30 times

Summary

This study looks at whether giving heated chemotherapy directly into the abdomen during surgery can help prevent stomach cancer from coming back. About 200 adults with advanced stomach cancer that has spread to the lining of the abdomen will receive the treatment. The goal is to see if this approach lowers the chance of cancer returning in the abdomen.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this approach could reduce the chance of cancer returning in the abdomen for people with advanced gastric cancer.

What could go wrong
