Hip fracture clues found in muscle balance, not just overall muscle loss
NCT ID NCT07443046
First seen Mar 04, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 8 times
Summary
This study examined 79 older adults with hip fractures to see if the balance of specific muscles around the hip, rather than overall muscle loss, influences the type of fracture. Using CT scans, researchers measured the gluteus medius and psoas muscles. The goal was to understand how regional muscle differences relate to fracture patterns, which could help improve prevention and recovery strategies.
