New oxygen technique may prevent dangerous drops during routine procedures

NCT ID NCT06610461

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 17, 2026 · Updated 38 times

Summary

This study looked at whether using high-flow nasal oxygen during upper endoscopy can prevent blood oxygen levels from dropping too low in high-risk patients. 180 adults who were at risk (due to sleep apnea, obesity, or other factors) took part. Half received standard care and half received the high-flow oxygen. The goal was to see if this method reduces the need for emergency airway help during the procedure.
