First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 13, 2026 · Updated 37 times

Summary

This study looked at whether using high-flow nasal oxygen during upper endoscopy can prevent blood oxygen levels from dropping too low in patients at high risk, such as those with sleep apnea or obesity. 180 patients were randomly assigned to receive either standard oxygen or high-flow oxygen during the procedure. The goal was to see if fewer emergency actions, like adjusting the airway or using a breathing tube, were needed with the new oxygen method.
