Should doctors fix hidden hernias or leave them alone? new study aims to settle debate.

NCT ID NCT07461558

Summary

This study aims to find the best way to handle a small, hidden hernia sometimes discovered on the opposite side during groin hernia surgery. It will randomly assign 380 adult patients to either have the hidden hernia repaired immediately or to simply monitor it over time. Researchers will track recovery, quality of life, and whether the monitored hernias later need surgery over two years to see which approach is safer and more effective.
