Could a hibernation drug combo protect the brain after stroke?

NCT ID NCT07364344

First seen Jan 25, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 15 times

Summary

This early-phase study tests whether a drug combination (chlorpromazine and promethazine) that induces a hibernation-like state is safe for people having a stroke caused by a blocked artery. About 57 adults aged 18-80 who are eligible for clot-removal treatment will receive the drugs. The main goal is to find the safest dose and see if it can reduce brain damage.
